This year marks my 60
th
year in the wargame community.  I have been downsizing for over 20 years, selling off games and collectibles along the way.  This may be the last game I sell for a long time.  It’s the first wargame that I ever owned.
There isn’t much available on-line about the game, but it does seem that it originated with a professor at Georgia Tech.
In 1962, one of my friends gave me this game.
He had a much older brother who was a student at Georgia Tech.
The older brother either bought the game from a professor, or received it as gift while at Georgia Tech.
The older brother wasn’t really into games, but my friend knew that I was and he asked his brother if he could give the game to me.
That began my love of wargames and 40 years later I had over 1000 of them. It was then that I realized the collection was just too big and it needed to be trimmed back. So I joined eBay and started auctioning off wargames, a few at a time, for the next twenty years.  About 40 wargames remain.
I played the game a lot and it plays well, surprisingly well for a game that is over 60 years old.
It’s amazing that not only were there three scenarios, but there were two full campaign games, too.
The campaign games flow much like the real one, except that a CSA cavalry unit or two will sometimes slip into the Blue Ridge Mountains and it can be nearly impossible to flush them out in the long-form campaign game.
The rules are not complex at all.
House rules on cavalry in the mountains can be added if desired and infantry, cavalry, and artillery all have realistic functions.
The game has always been stored in a smoke-free environment.
The game is in very good shape, overall.
The photos give a realistic view of game’s condition.
The military counters have a printed number on front, and when I was young, I penciled in the same number on the back of the counter…they are still there.

Bill Molyneaux recently uploaded new counter scans for the game, they are included and have been mounted and cut into individual counters as seen in the 5th photo.  The backs of the USA counters are blue, the backs of the CSA counters are grey.
There are no new counters for locomotives, pontoons, or demolition tags.
