    GREAT CIVIL WAR GETTYSBURG RELIC DISPLAY W/20TH MAINE BAYONET CHARGE PHOTO PRINT - THE CASE MEASURES 12 3/8" BY 8 3/8" BY 1" - DISPLAYS SIX EXCAVATED GETTYSBURG RELICS (RECOVERED ON PRIVATE PROPERTY IN GETTYSBURG WITH OWNER'S PERMISSION) - 58 CALIBER MINIE - 50 CALIBER ROUND BALL SHOT- COAT SIZE EAGLE BUTTON -BRASS  BUTTON BACK - VEST SIZE- TWO OTHER BUTTONS -GREATCOAT AND COAT SIZE COIN BUTTONS -MOSTLY USED ON CONFEDERATE CLOTHES - ALL HOUSED IN DISPLAY  CASE- ON JULY 2ND -1863 - THE 20TH MAINE WAS POSTED ON THE EXTREME LEFT END OF THE UNION DEFENSE LINE WITH ORDERS TO HOLD AT ALL HAZARDS (COST) THEY WERE CONTINUOUSLY ATTACKED BY CONFEDERATES TRYING TO TURN THAT FLANK AND ROLLUP THE UNION LINE - ALMOST OUT OF AMMUNITION  AND FACING A NEW ATTACK FORMING - COLONEL JOSHUA CHAMBERLAIN ORDERED A BAYONET CHARGE DOWN THE HILL - THE MOVE SURPRISED THE EXHAUSTED CONFEDERATE - MANY SURRENDERED OR ESCAPED DOWN THE HILL - ONE  OF THE MOST FAMOUS ACTIONS OF THE BATTLE AND OF THE WAR - THE SURVIVORS OF THE 20TH MAINE WERE MOVED TO A SAFER AREA IN THE MIDDLE OF THE UNION LINE -SAFE UNTIL THE NEXT DAY AND THE HOUR AND HALF CONFEDERATE ARTILLERY BOMBARDMENT - GREAT DISPLAY PIECE - GREAT COLLECTIBLE
