    Description

These are upgrade kits for your Hasbro Spengler Wand and/or Proton Pack.  The Wand is NOT included. The Pack is NOT included.
    **** 1984 version of wand Support *****
This also works with the Ghostbusters Plasma Series Neutrona Wand (1984) version of the wand that Hasbro released in February of 2024.
    **** WAND New Version 1.4 ****
This new version includes an option to install the included two resistors that go on the original wand's circuit board to enable the bypass of the rumble motor timeout no matter what the top dial position is.  The previous version relied on the dial being in a "detent" position to bypass the timeout.
    **** PACK New Version 2.1 ****
This new version will work with the D-cell batteries AND/OR a 12V rechargeable battery pack, and also increases the voltage margin to aid the wand is always being able to activate.
    Quick description:
The Wand KeepAlive kit allows the wand to stay on indefinitely.
The Wand KeepAlive kit can also keep your Hasbro pack from shutting down when they are connected.
The Pack KeepAlive kit allows your pack to stay on indefinitely with or without a wand but only when the red power switch is in the ON position.
    The gory details:
    Wand KeepAlive Features:
The wand will no longer have any idle timers that will shut down the wand. The wand can also stay on as long as your batteries allow.
Keep the Pack Alive even if your fire long enough to have the wand auto shut down. The Pack will no longer have the 3 minute ON idle shutdown. The pack can stay on as long as your batteries allow.
Still be able to shut down the pack from the wand when you want to.
The wand keeps alive with or without the pack attached.
Stretch goal #1 (DONE!): Keep the wand alive even if the rumble motor is firing.
Stretch goal #2 (DONE!): Wake the wand back up after a long fire sequence that shuts down the wand. The wand will be shut down for a few seconds to allow the pack to shutdown and "cool down", and then both will automatically start back up.
If the pack is left in a powered down state for more than 5 minutes, the wand will not be able to turn on.  The pack must have the Red power switch toggled to bring things back to life.
    The Wand KeepAlive board
    does require soldering
to install it in your Spengler wand.
The kit will contain the circuit board, mounting hardware and the connecting cable.

    Pack KeepAlive Features:
The Pack will no longer have the 3 minute ON idle shutdown when the Red power switch is in the ON position.  The pack can stay on as long as your batteries allow.
The Pack will no longer disable the wand after 5 minutes of being powered down - The wand will always be able to powerup the pack.
Two separate versions: Support for replacing the D batteries OR 12V rechargeable battery pack.
For 12V battery pack use: I use a single 9800mAH blue brick style battery to power both the Pack and the Spengler wand.  The boards has an efficient switching regulator to generate the lower voltage needed by the pack and wand.
Does not need a wand attached to keep the pack alive.
Stretch goal #1 (DONE!): Enable a Sound Board to power up/down the pack. This would allow a Spengler Sound Board / Spengler Link combo to turn the pack on and off.
Stretch goal #2 (DONE!): Be able to power the pack from either the D cells or a 12V rechargeable battery. Unfortunately not both at the same time and you have to specify the version you want to purchase.
    12V & D-cell version (V2.1 of the Pack KeepAlive):
Wands can ALWAYS power up the pack.  No more 5 minute shutoff timer that cuts power to the wand after 5 minutes of the pack being powered down.
An included toggle switch can be used to disconnect the D cell batteries. The D-cell disconnect toggle switch is not needed when only using the 12V battery connection.
Both a 12V AND the D-Cell batteries can be connected at the same time.  The 12V rechargeable battery is prioritized over the D-cell batteries, so will be discharged first.  The switch over to D-Cells is seamless and will not interrupt the pack operation.
    Previous versions:
    12V Only:
Wands can ALWAYS power up the pack.  No more 5 minute shutoff timer that cuts power to the wand after 5 minutes of the pack being powered down.
Cannot use the D-Cell batteries.  A D-cell disconnect toggle switch is not included.
    4x D-Cell Only:
5 minute shutoff timer is NOT Bypassed - if the pack is off for 5 minutes, the wand will not be able to turn the pack back on.
An included toggle switch can be used to disconnect the D cell batteries. If you purchasing the 12V version, this switch is not included.
12V support is not included (even though the 12V connector is still on the board).  Only the D-cell batteries can be used to power the board (and wand).
    The Pack KeepAlive board
    does not require any soldering
    and is a plug-n-play design.
The kit will contain the circuit board, connecting cables and a toggle switch cable assembly to cut power from the D cell batteries if you select that version.

Combo Wand and Pack KeepAlive Kits
All of the above features for each kit
The pack will follow what the wand is doing so the wand can power down the pack even if the pack 's power switch is in the power on position.
When the pack and wand are both off, the pack can still be turned on with the Red power switch (think of the elevator scene)
Stretch Goal #1 (DONE!): Support for a vent relay so you can add most any e-cig smoke kit and control it from the Spengler Wand. Both automatically when the wand overheats and also manually with an ear pushbutton press.
