SCARCE 1890s Antique silk CIGAR ribbon pillow cover 19"square, thick braid trim

This RARE and gorgeous, 19 inch square, diamond patterned, antique, cigar ribbon silk, quilted pillow cover is entirely assembled and hand sewn, circa 1890. Featuring over 35 famous cigar brands, each
advertising
silk band is expertly quilt stitched to a muslin backing. This eye-catching assembly is then backed with matching fabric and a series of tiny antique buttons at the back to insert a pillow. The names and logos are
fascinating to study.
The entire piece is framed with a rich antique, gold & green braid rope trim with huge tassels. To preserve the fabric this museum quality item would be best mounted or pinned in a  shadow box.  It is in extremely good overall condition with no rips or tears with only some wear at the center where it has been folded. (best to roll this piece for storage in a pillow case to avoid damage to the silk).
