Small Carved African Soapstone Hippopotamus

Description

The item for sale is a soapstone carving of a hippopotamus.  The carving is made out of a dark brown colored soapstone sometimes called steatite.  This type of stone and the hippopotamus are indigenous to Africa.  The carving is detailed and lifelike.  There may be a small loss on one of the back feet.  The carved material is soft and small contacts can cause slight color change.  The carving appears intact overall.  The length, width and height are 3 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"
