Imperial Credits were used as a universal trading currency throughout the Empire. In an attempt to unite a galaxy previously divided by war, this currency was a stepping stone in achieving just that. From one side of the galaxy to another a single currency could be instated to help previously impoverished worlds that were looking to stay out of the Clone Wars' destructive path.
